5 Tactics to Master DJ Social Media
Hello guardians of the rhythm,
I’ve always had a love-hate relationship with short form social media - specifically Instagram and TikTok. I’ve found it difficult to keep up with the ever-changing trends on these platforms and create value for my audience.
However, I’ve recently started to embrace it. Surprisingly, one of my posts unexpectedly went viral and helped me to grow my audience significantly on Instagram.
I’ve learned the hard way that staying up to date with the trends is essential in order to stay relevant. I’ve been forced to create short form content – something I’ve always shied away from – in order to keep up with the competition.
It’s still a challenge to come up with witty and creative posts, but I’ve definitely noticed that my efforts have been paying off. Most importantly, it’s helped me develop my DJ skills further to come up with new and creative ways to mix. Constraints, like the short time spans of these videos, force you to mix outside your comfort zone. Long 2 minute blends aren’t going to cut it.
If you are trying to break into the scene and get your first bookings, it can be a great way to supplement your self promotion. Combined with old skool networking it can give you a leg up on the competition.
